Four Decades as a Feminist Artist

Nancy Youdelman has been exhibiting her artwork since 1971. She has the distinction of having been part of the very first feminist art class that was taught by Judy Chicago in 1970 at California State University, Fresno. Her education continued with her participation in the Feminist Art Program (1971-73) at California Institute of the Arts in Valencia, where she was part of the internationally acclaimed project, Womanhouse (1972). At CalArts she was inspired to do her first artworks with clothing. She received a B.F.A. from CalArts in 1973 and then an M.F.A. from UCLA in 1976. She is the recipient of numerous awards including grants from the Pollock/Krasner and the Adolph and Esther Gottlieb Foundations. More at http://nancyyoudelman.com/

Enacting Judy Chicago’s feminist art teaching methodology documented in the Penn State Libraries archives, participants in the Spring 2014 special topics course, Judy Chicago@PSU: Art, Pedaogogy, Exhibition and Research, feature interactive content-based visual and performative art to engage community in an exhibition in the HUB’s Art Alley.
