The curriculum needs to change. More students are wanting to go into more artistic jobs when they leave school. When I was my students age, we would briefly talk about the basics but were expected to know them. We would be given projects to complete and unless you were willing to ask for help you were on your own with the basics. It was not until college when I realized I was lacking in the fundamentals of Art. Luckily, I was able to get caught up quickly. When I final got into teaching I built my lessons more on what learned in college instead of Junior and Senior High School.
