When I was in High School, the curriculum was suited more towards a general art and Art History and not introducing students to the basics of Art. Most of the students that take my class want to learn how to draw and express themselves with their art and not how Art has been done over the years. I am not totally against Art History, but I think that Studio Art/ Art Education is just that, learning techniques or the basics.I have always felt that Studio Art/Art Education and Art History should be separate classes yet if needed they could overlap. I believe after learning how to do something, you then need look at the past to see where you fit in or get an idea of your Artistic Identity, both in style and thought.
